Description
Shaken not stirred is a variegated hand dyed yarn. A versatile sock yarn it can also be used for garments and drapey shawls and it knits up beautifully.
I hand dye all of the yarn and variations will exist between and within each batch. Therefore for larger projects I recommend using different skeins for alternative rows to minimise any differences.
I hope that you enjoy the individuality that occurs with each yarn.
I post all yarn as a skein (a loop of yarn) as shown in the main image. In order to use your yarn, it will need to be wound into a ball or a cake to prevent it turning into a big tangle. For that reason I offer a “caking service” which can be found on the product page.
Superwash Merino
Merino yarn is the perfect blend of softness and strength, with a luxurious feel. Generally all of the merino I use is sourced from Argentina, Uruguay and Europe, making it non-mulesing.
All of the bases containing merino has been treated with a superwash, which not only flattens the fibres, but also makes it less prone to felting.
This means that it is possible to be machine washed, although I recommend hand washing in a wool wash solution such as Eucalan.
Depending on the intensity of colours there may be slight colour bleeding on the first wash. Please do not tumble dry.
Needle and Hook Sizes
I recommend the following range of needles and hooks for different projects. Swatching is certainly the best method to ensure that the fabric you create is in line with the pattern requirements, so please check your gauge.
