A copper toned yarn on a Blue Faced Leicester, silk and cashmere base inspired by the stills used in the whisky making business. A lustrous sheen, softness and a springy twist. This yarn base is fabulous.
I hand dye all the yarn and variations will exist between and within each batch. Therefore for larger projects I recommend using different skeins for alternative rows to minimise any differences.
I hope that you enjoy the individuality that occurs with each yarn.
I post all yarn as a skein (a loop of yarn) as shown in the main image. In order to use your yarn, it will need to be wound into a ball or a cake to prevent it turning into a big tangle. For that reason I offer a “caking service” which can be found on the product page.
Blue Faced Leicester, Silk and cashmere
This BFL fibre is sourced from numerous UK small farms and processed to the highest standards in the UK. It is shiny and soft as well as extremely hard wearing, when combined with the softness of cashmere and the drape of silk it is the most luxurious yarn to work with.
Due to the silk and cashmere content of this yarn I recommend hand washing in a wool wash solution such as Eucalan.
Depending on the intensity of colours there may be slight colour bleeding on the first wash. Please do not tumble dry.
Needle and Hook Sizes
I recommend the following range of needles and hooks for different projects. Swatching is certainly the best method to ensure that the fabric you create is in line with the pattern requirements, so please check your gauge.
- Socks 3.00mm – 3.25mm
- Sweaters 3.25mm – 4.00mm
- Shawls 4.50mm – 5.00mm
- Crochet hook 4.50mm – 5.50mm
- Tunisian crochet hook 5.50mm – 7.00mm
