Pop up Shop 15 – 20 July 2025

Pop

I’m holding a pop up shop at Milton of Crathes between the 15th and 20th July.

The complex at Milton of Crathes is perfect way to spend the day, lots of lovely walks, independent shops and you can even get a bit to eat at the Bistro.

Located in the Sawmill, which is a bright airy space, I will have lots of hand dyed yarns, patterns and books, needles and hooks and also the winding station for your purchases.

Beginners Tunisian Crochet Class - July

There will be Tunisian Crochet classes run during the week which can be booked here:

Next Stitches

I am so excited about this event. 2025 is all about trying new things as it is so difficult to be visible on social media. I do hope that you can come along and have a browse.

You can also use this as an opportunity to discuss any bespoke colourways, or get assistance in choosing yarns.

Spring into Wool

Spring into Wool

A last minute opportunity came up to attend Spring into Wool at the Grammer School at Leeds. This was the first time at this event and the sunny weather was amazing.

It was a novelty to go over the A66 and actually see some of the country. Most of the time we take this road it’s dark, foggy or raining.

I must admit seeing a camel at a farm shop was a bit of a novelty.

With the market place split over 3 rooms, it was great to see more of the school, instead of being only in the Sports Hall.

Thank you to everyone who came along, it was lovely to see so many of you and your makes.

It fills my heart with joy to see what people create. Sometimes I might not remember names, but I do remember colourways.

This was our first venture to this event and hopefully not the last.

Scottish Wool Producers Showcase

Wooltrace DK Weight Yarn

Focusing on locally produced fibres, and British yarns this event has been running 4 years. It was so busy I didn’t get any photos of the interior of the Civic Hall, which is a testament to all of the visitors who kept us busy all day.

We launched a new base at this event.

Wooltrace is a DK weight yarn which includes a QR code so that you can see which farms have been involved in providing fleeces for this gorgeous squishy yarn.

We have also expanded our range of Blue Faced Leicester with lots of variegated shades to chose from.

Castles Collection 100g Blue Faced Leceister hand dyed yarn

It’s always a pleasure to attend local events, which are so well supported and organised. I appreciate everyone that stopped to chat, the volunteers that keep everything ticking over and to Eva who organises an event that showcases all the amazing fibre makers that are celebrating local products.

Wonderful Winton

Wonderful Winton

Just south of Edinburgh, tucked away is stunning Winton castle. I’ll admit that I did have chimney envy.

The weather was stunning with visitors being able to wander round the walled garden and picnics as well some scrummy cakes from the cafe.

The interior of the castle was beautiful. The intricate geometry on the ceiling of one of the rooms was stunning.

The festival was split across 3 spaces with a wide variety of wares: weaving, harris tweed handbags, Latvian mitt kits and hand dyed yarns. There was also separate spaces to give visitors an opportunity to sit and craft in the opulent surroundings.

It was lovely to see so many well known faces and to chat about current projects. With a small selection of 4 ply yarns as well as accessories, the coasters were particularly popular.

Wonderful Winton

The organisers of the event did a fantastic job and the day flew by, I couldn’t believe when it was packing up time (it’s a sign of a good show).

Blackpool you rocked !!

Blackpool you rocked !!

We spend Valentine’s weekend at the Imperial Hotel, Blackpool for the North West Winter Wool Fest. This is a brand new event on the yarn show calendar and it was so lovely to see lots of visitors, some familiar faces and some new friends.

Blackpool you rocked !!

The vendors were in 2 different rooms, the Louis Room and the Lancaster Suite which were down this opulent corridor off the main reception.

Blackpool you rocked !!

We wandered down the promenade on Saturday to stretch the legs and see some of the sights. It was bitterly cold, but perfect weather for wearing knitwear, and buying yarn.

Blackpool you rocked !!

The 2 day event was well organised, with lots of different products to buy, from hand dyed yarn on both wool and linen bases, project bags, chickens (who definitely had a hen party), pattern designers, fibres for spinning and weaving, drop spindles, macrame, ceramic and 3D printed yarn bowls. There was something to tempt you.

We would love to see what you make, so please share your progress on our social media channels.

It was so lovely to chat with lots of familiar faces and meet some amazing characters and hearing some very funny tales. We appreciate everyone who stopped by to say hello and took time to chat and also give us some ideas for other products to add to our ranges. Watch this space for new keyring designs.

Finally a massive thank you to Shirlry, Trevor and the team for hosting and creating an amazing event. I can’t wait for the next one.

Scottish Yarn Producers Showcase

We’re heading back to Perth for the Scottish Yarn Producers Showcase.

A celebration of all things wool, raised, spun, and dyed in Scotland. The exhibitors are passionate, knowledgeable and enthusiastic about sharing the joy of home grown (shorn?) products.

This will be our second time at the event and we will be bringing our own blend of yarn as well as some gorgeous British Blue Faced Leicester blends. We’ll also have a selection of needles and hooks in case you want to start your project on the way home!

We will also be launching a DK weight yarn. More about that soon, so keep an eye on our new blog and social media channels to find out more.

Tickets for this event go on sale weekend of 8th February. Get yours here.

Frog it or finish it February

Frog it or finish it February

Frog it or Finish it

If you are like me you’ll have a few projects that have been hanging around for a number of reasons.

  • You can’t remember what size of hook or needles you were using as you “borrowed” them for another project.
  • You fell out of love with the pattern
  • It just needed the final bits to be done and it could be finished and you got distracted by a new cast on.
  • It got put in the naughty corner for some reason and there is no recollection of the problem.
  • You’ve inherited something and don’t even know what it is.

Whatever the reason hop over to our facebook group and participate in the challenge for February. I’ll be going live on 1st February to show you what I’m hoping to be working on. Together we can do this and either have lots of lovely yarn to use in a new project or gorgeous finished items.
