Wonderful Winton

Wonderful Winton

Just south of Edinburgh, tucked away is stunning Winton castle. I’ll admit that I did have chimney envy.

The weather was stunning with visitors being able to wander round the walled garden and picnics as well some scrummy cakes from the cafe.

The interior of the castle was beautiful. The intricate geometry on the ceiling of one of the rooms was stunning.

The festival was split across 3 spaces with a wide variety of wares: weaving, harris tweed handbags, Latvian mitt kits and hand dyed yarns. There was also separate spaces to give visitors an opportunity to sit and craft in the opulent surroundings.

It was lovely to see so many well known faces and to chat about current projects. With a small selection of 4 ply yarns as well as accessories, the coasters were particularly popular.

Wonderful Winton

The organisers of the event did a fantastic job and the day flew by, I couldn’t believe when it was packing up time (it’s a sign of a good show).

Blackpool you rocked !!

Blackpool you rocked !!

We spend Valentine’s weekend at the Imperial Hotel, Blackpool for the North West Winter Wool Fest. This is a brand new event on the yarn show calendar and it was so lovely to see lots of visitors, some familiar faces and some new friends.

The vendors were in 2 different rooms, the Louis Room and the Lancaster Suite which were down this opulent corridor off the main reception.

We wandered down the promenade on Saturday to stretch the legs and see some of the sights. It was bitterly cold, but perfect weather for wearing knitwear, and buying yarn.

Blackpool you rocked !!

The 2 day event was well organised, with lots of different products to buy, from hand dyed yarn on both wool and linen bases, project bags, chickens (who definitely had a hen party), pattern designers, fibres for spinning and weaving, drop spindles, macrame, ceramic and 3D printed yarn bowls. There was something to tempt you.

We would love to see what you make, so please share your progress on our social media channels.

It was so lovely to chat with lots of familiar faces and meet some amazing characters and hearing some very funny tales. We appreciate everyone who stopped by to say hello and took time to chat and also give us some ideas for other products to add to our ranges. Watch this space for new keyring designs.

Finally a massive thank you to Shirlry, Trevor and the team for hosting and creating an amazing event. I can’t wait for the next one.

Scottish Yarn Producers Showcase

We’re heading back to Perth for the Scottish Yarn Producers Showcase.

Auto Draft

A celebration of all things wool, raised, spun, and dyed in Scotland. The exhibitors are passionate, knowledgeable and enthusiastic about sharing the joy of home grown (shorn?) products.

This will be our second time at the event and we will be bringing our own blend of yarn as well as some gorgeous British Blue Faced Leicester blends. We’ll also have a selection of needles and hooks in case you want to start your project on the way home!

We will also be launching a DK weight yarn. More about that soon, so keep an eye on our new blog and social media channels to find out more.

Tickets for this event go on sale weekend of 8th February. Get yours here.
